Dear Performance Nutrition Leaders,

This week: professional nutrition content, the latest appointments and industry news, and a new 10g chew.

💡 EXPERT OPINION

Bethan Crouse is a Performance Nutritionist at Loughborough Sport, the team supporting athletes who train on site, a number of whom competed at Glasgow 2026.

Talking to the university's press office about supplements, she set out timings, contamination and dose.

"Some though, are time sensitive and dose specific." Collagen, which she describes as promoting recovery, "needs to be taken about 60 minutes before they do their loading protocol for tendon rehab".

On contamination she names one route: products batch-tested by Informed Sport, which she calls the UK's main batch testing organisation, analysed for anything "that could promote a positive test result in an anti-doping campaign".

The press office did the rest, and did it properly. High production quality, good setting, and all of it filed under the Commonwealth Games while the Games were on.

Most of the organisations in this newsletter have a press office that could do exactly this. If you need help with content, why not ask your organisation?

Well done, Bethan!

💡PERFORMANCE TECH

STYRKR has launched a carbohydrate chew dosed like a gel.

CEL50 comes from the UK brand behind GEL50, its dual-carb gel, and holds 50g of carbohydrate per pack as five soft chews of 10g each, with 267mg of sodium.

The carbohydrate is single-source glucose, which STYRKR frames as the point rather than a shortcut — the brand suggests pairing CEL50 with a fructose gel or drink mix to build a dual-carbohydrate plan chew by chew, instead of fixing the ratio inside the pack.

On sodium, STYRKR's own published comparison puts CLIF Bloks at roughly 98mg a pack, the SiS chew at around 44mg and Enervit at zero. Precision Fuel & Hydration's chew sits under 40mg, which STYRKR's own footnote attributes to PF&H's fuel range being deliberately electrolyte-free.

STYRKR is listed among Informed Sport's certified brands. The CEL50 launch page carries no certification mark of its own.

STYRKR's guidance is one 10g chew every 12–15 minutes. Fuelling at 90g an hour works out at 1.8 packs and 480mg of sodium.

£49.99 buys 18 packs at £2.78 each, before subscription discounts.
